Steep fortress hill on the ancient Argos-Epidaurus road, its circuit walls 2.5 m thick and up to 5.2 m high in huge tightly fitted polygonal/cyclopean blocks with four round towers. Directly below runs the Mycenaean highway with the Arkadiko bridge — the best-preserved Cyclopean corbel-arch bridge in the world, still in use after ~3,300 years. How much walling is genuinely Mycenaean versus 4th-century BC Argive polygonal rebuild is still discussed, and the site's ancient name is unresolved.
