Asine
MegalithicEuropeGreecec. 1,300 BCEMycenaean / Hellenistic Greek
Triangular rocky headland rising straight from the sea beside Tolo, ringed by fortification walls of cyclopean character heavily rebuilt around 300 BCE — massive roughly polygonal limestone with a large landward bastion. Swedish excavations from 1922 revealed Early Helladic houses, Mycenaean remains and a Geometric town; attributing individual wall stretches between the Bronze Age circuit and the Hellenistic refortification remains difficult.
