Pyramid of Hellinikon

Small pyramidal structure in the Argolid, Greece, built of polygonal-fitted limestone blocks. Originally proposed by Greek researchers (Liritzis, Vassiliou) to date to c. 2700 BCE based on thermoluminescence and optically stimulated luminescence dating of the limestone surfaces. If correct, the Hellinikon pyramid is older than the Great Pyramid of Giza and may be the oldest stone monument in Europe. Mainstream archaeology disputes the dating and assigns the structure to the 4th century BCE Classical period.
