Ming Dynasty quarry near Nanjing (commissioned by the Yongle Emperor, 1405). Three unfinished megalithic steles intended for the Xiaoling Mausoleum, the largest weighing an estimated 16,000+ tons. Abandoned mid-carving. Why and how transport was attempted at this scale remains unexplained.
