Fortified acropolis at Neo Monastiri in Achaean Phthiotis, its Hellenistic circuit built as two faces of firmly jointed trapezoidal grey limestone with headers between sets of stretchers, the south flank surviving eight courses (~4.2 m) high. Open drains through the outer face manage rainwater — systematic Hellenistic military engineering; the sanctuary of Demeter Proernia lies below.
