Acropolis above Agios Vlasios celebrated since the 19th century as a textbook example of fine polygonal masonry, with curtains standing 5-6 m high and one tower reaching 9 m. Pausanias noted the town had no agora or theatre — its fame rested on the walls and the clay 'of which Prometheus moulded men.' The polygonal work looks archaic, yet the standing circuit is conventionally dated after the 346 BCE destruction, leaving the relationship between older polygonal sections and the rebuild an open question.
