City / RuinsEuropeGreecec. 600 BCEDorian Cretan
Amphitheatre-like acropolis city above Kissamos in northwest Crete, its fortification walls still standing 3-5.5 m high in a mix of Hellenistic coursed work and later rebuilds over older masonry. Rock-cut chambers and cisterns honeycomb the hill, with a temple of Dictynna and a Hadrianic aqueduct.
