Menehune Fishpond (Alekoko)

Massive ancient fishpond near Lihue on Kauai, with a 270-meter-long curved stone wall enclosing 200,000 m² of water. Local tradition holds that the wall was built in a single night by the Menehune — a legendary race of small, skilled stone-workers said to predate the Polynesian Hawaiians. Construction date and method remain unresolved.
