Lilaia
MegalithicEuropeGreecec. 350 BCEPhocian Greek
Towered acropolis above the springs of the Cephissus river in Phocis, its 4th-century BC circuit built in trapezoidal masonry with rectangular towers still standing to substantial height, commanding the entire upper valley. Traces of earlier fortification survive at the summit; Pausanias saw temples of Apollo and Artemis with Pentelic-marble statues of Athenian workmanship.
