Latte Stones of Guam

Distinctive pillar-and-capstone stone supports (latte) erected across the Mariana Islands by the ancient Chamorro people. Each latte is a coral or limestone column topped with a hemispherical capstone (tasa). Functioned as foundations for elevated wooden houses. The House of Taga on Tinian and the Latte Stone Park in Hagåtña on Guam preserve the most monumental examples (up to 5 m tall). Date range: ~800-1700 CE.
