Grand terraced sanctuary of Hera stepping down a spur of Mt. Euboea above the Argive plain, its uppermost Old Temple terrace retained by a monumental wall of huge unmortared conglomerate blocks in 'cyclopean' style — larger even than true Mycenaean work. Long mistaken for genuine Bronze Age construction, the terrace is argued to be an Iron Age/Archaic imitation consciously evoking the Mycenaean past — a documented open question of archaizing masonry.
