Late Postclassic Maya city in the western highlands of Guatemala, capital of the Mam Maya kingdom. Stuccoed pyramids on multiple platforms. Conquered by Spanish forces in 1525 after a six-month siege. Modern restoration in the 1940s preserved the white-plastered appearance.
