Sambisari
TempleAsiaIndonesia
9th-century Hindu temple in Yogyakarta sitting 6.5 metres below the surrounding ground level. Discovered 1966 by a farmer plowing his field. The 6.5m of stratigraphy over the temple is consistent with volcanic ash burial from Mount Merapi but raises questions about exactly when.
