Ratu Boko
City / RuinsAsia
Hilltop archaeological complex south of Prambanan in Central Java, dating to roughly the 8th century. The site mixes Buddhist and Hindu features in a layout that doesn't match standard temple or palace conventions. Stone gates, terraces, pools, and a meditation cave. The function is debated: royal residence, monastery, or ceremonial complex.
Look Closer — this site carries open questions: stones heavier than the period's tools could lift; geometry beyond period explanation; stones fitted without mortar, almost no gap.
