Monte Pallano

On a 1,020 m ridge in Abruzzo, a ~160 m stretch survives of a cyclopean dry-stone circuit originally at least 4 km long enclosing 35 hectares — identified with ancient Pallanum. The wall stands over 5 m high in huge irregular limestone blocks, pierced by gates with massive monolithic architraves. Dating and attribution are genuinely unsettled, with proposals spanning the 6th to 3rd centuries BCE and different Italic groups.
