Maya-Toltec city in Yucatán with multiple iconic structures: the Pyramid of Kukulkan (El Castillo), the Great Ball Court, the Temple of the Warriors, the Observatory (El Caracol), the Sacred Cenote, and the Ossuary Pyramid. Known for stunning acoustic effects: a clap at the base of Kukulkan produces a chirp identical to the quetzal bird call. Founded c. 6th century CE, peak occupation 800-1100 CE.
