Little-documented Mayan pyramid site in Yucatán, Mexico, rediscovered in recent years and largely overlooked by mainstream archaeology. The site preserves a substantial stepped pyramid and platform group obscured by jungle regrowth. Conventional dating treats it as part of the broader Yucatán Maya tradition (Late Preclassic through Classic). Hugh Newman filmed an exploratory visit, treating Chaltun Ha as one of the many lesser-known pyramid sites that fill the gaps between the famous tourist centers.
