Beng Mealea

TempleAsiaCambodiac. 1150 CEKhmer Empire

Massive 12th-century Khmer temple 40 km east of Angkor, contemporary in style to Angkor Wat but left largely unrestored and consumed by jungle. LiDAR revealed the same engineered mound-fields and spiral embankments documented at Angkor, suggesting an integrated regional hydraulic-ritual landscape rather than isolated temples.
